The exhibition Conditio Humana – Fabrics of Truth and Fabrics of Lies at Kunstraum Kesselhaus explores essential questions of human existence, inspired by Hannah Arendt’s concept of the Conditio Humana. It focuses on democratic values such as freedom, truth, and human rights – values increasingly under threat from totalitarian systems and social upheaval. Artists Teresa Casanueva, Crow, and Thomas Michel, shaped by different political backgrounds, reflect in their works on a world marked by conflicting information. Their art highlights how political and societal forces shape individual perception and reality. Central to the exhibition is the printed newspaper, used as material and metaphor. It represents the fragile balance between press freedom and manipulation. Newspaper sheets become sculptures, installations, and performance elements – turning the exhibition space into an interdisciplinary stage of truth and deception.
